Did You Mention Intention?
I’m going to let you in on a little secret. Even if you did, it probably doesn’t matter. You see, when it comes to God’s legal order, your intentions have no power.
Let’s review some things we hear from real people. Yes, even good people.
- God knows my heart.
- I do yoga to relax. It’s literally just stretching and I’m not trying to conjure up some spirit.
- It’s just a [movie/tv show/book] for entertainment only.
- I celebrate Jesus with my holidays; I don’t worship the tree, eggs, or practice witchcraft.
- [Horoscopes, palm readings, tarot cards, Ouija boards] are just for fun.
- I just use ai to help me write a better email or make a thumbnail.
- I ask Siri questions because it’s easy. I’m not letting ai rule my life.
We tend to think with emotion. In our “feels.” Even if we sincerely profess our intentions, Satan doesn’t care. Devils don’t care. Unclean spirits…you got it…don’t care. They are legalists, and they follow their law to the letter.
The Bible says everything is under God’s subjection and he is a God of perfect order.
1 Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1 Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
Every single thing has a place, a purpose, and an allowance (or a sandbox, if you will) in which to play. What we fail to remember is that spirits, both good and bad, follow the Biblical order, no matter what. I’m sorry, but regardless of how emphatically we say it, our intentions don’t have more authority or power than the spiritual order established by God. Spiritual things are set in motion by actions, regardless of intent, and it’s arrogant and dangerous to believe otherwise.
Let’s take a minute to reflect on this structure. I’m not going to pretend I know how it all works, but I know that God is eternal. God’s authority began long before you and I came onto the scene, and it is final. Spiritual beings obey Him over and over, and they have from the moment he gave them their assignments. They don’t rest. They perform functions within their boundaries relentlessly. Consider the heavenly luminaries, for example. They fulfill their purpose every day and night without fail. God said, “Do,” and they do. Period. No questions. No hesitation. No falling down on the job.
Now let’s bring it to down to earth, shall we? God established the spiritual kingdom with structure, boundaries, and rules long ago. He knew everything we would encounter and he planned spiritual allowances and consequences accordingly. Both good and bad spirits move within their God-established boundaries, and they respond to our actions every single time. On the flip side, they respond to our intentions…never.
When we try to override the Biblical order with our intent, do you think those spirits back down? Do you think just because we say it’s all in fun or innocent, that’s enough to stop them fulfilling their assignments? Not a chance, dear sister or brother. It doesn’t work that way.
Moves and countermoves. You act, they act. You disobey, they gain legal ground. You cloak your disobedience in good intentions, they blow right in through the very door you opened for them. Now they’ve been invited to wreak havoc in your life, and you don’t even realize they are there. Your intentions may have fooled you, but those guys aren’t falling for it.
A great example that traps many good-hearted, even Christian, people is yoga. Let’s say you do yoga just for the stretches and relaxation. Your good intention is to use a physical form of “exercise” to meet a physical need. You act. Well guess what. Your actions gave the spirit world a green light to react. To move. To do whatever they are allowed to do within their boundaries. In other words, it’s go time.
Now the Kundalini spirit, thought to be dormant at the base of your spine, has just received a legal right to “awaken” and move within your body because you just wanted to stretch. You literally gave it an invitation, and trust me, it doesn’t care about the why. It’s just happy it now has access to you. It has been ready and waiting. A trained soldier. An experienced warrior. The battle is now fully on and you don’t even know you’re in it.
Brothers and sisters, spiritual warfare is real. We have to be on guard at all times to protect our bodies and our minds! Let’s think before we act, and never let our intentions fool us. Let’s ask the important questions:
- Am I giving any legal rights to dark entities by actions I am taking today?
- Have I already opened doors that need to be closed?
- Do I need to take back any strongholds I’ve given over to the enemy?
- Are any evil spirits influencing me from my “past actions with good intentions”?
The great news is God can forgive us for opening ourselves up to dark spiritual influence, and he can close the doors we have opened. He can cleanse us and put those spirits back into subjection outside of our bodies and minds. Ask Him today to help you if you need healing. Ask a trusted mentor if you think you need deliverance. Then, put on the whole armor of God found in Ephesians 6: 11-17.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Friends, let’s take the spiritual world seriously and never be found without our armor. Respect the order God created and realize that go means go, simply based on your actions. Most importantly, please remember, intent has zero power and it will never nullify disobedience.
